Bullets, weapons, military attributes, articulation of zones of war conflicts on the geographic, political and internal maps - all these difficult discussed, exhausted, unpopular (but relevant) elements of nowadays are pressure points on the map of Maria Kulikovska’s artistic activity.
War, borders, occupation, annexation, exile, migration, losing home, ephemeral of human existence, fragile human body, vulnerability of woman in war, vulnerability of woman’s body in total patriarchy, opportunity for free, non-bonary, queer art - all these themes are presented in Maria’s creativity. And all these issues she continues to spell out in her new sculptural series of feet with flowers and bullets inside - “Scars. Continuation”. The shell casings were bought in the gray market from the war territories of East Ukraine a few months ago. Now they are breaking out of a very delicate shell of sculptural skin (like scars, and among flowers).
Sculptural object as a continuation of the series "Scars" was made from the feet of Maria Kulikovska by hands of Uleg Vinnichenko.
